「遠くても一度は詣れ善光寺」と言われてますが、今年は７年に一度の
善光寺御開帳の年で、全国から約５００万人の方々が参拝されました。

秘仏の「阿弥陀如来」に代わる「前立本尊（重要文化財）」が御開帳の
時だけ本堂に移され拝むことができました。

期間中、回向柱が本堂前に建立され、この回向柱と「前立本尊」との間に
糸が結ばれたわけです。
この回向柱に触れることにより「仏様」の御心に触れることができると
すべての仏教宗派の人々が善光寺をお詣りする不思議なお寺である。

In Japan they say "Please come and pray Zenkouji at least once
in your life even if you live far from Zenkouji."
Zenkouji-Temple espcially belongs to all Sect of Buddhism,
although Westerner think of this fact curiously.
At Zenkouji-Temple, "Gokaicho",the big festival is held every
seven years.
1997 is the very year that Gokaicho is held, and this evet
period is 6th April - 31st May.

On this period "Maedate-Honzon", a dupulicate of the original
Buddhist image, was shown to the public at the main hall of
Zenkouji in Nagano.

A lot of visiters, maybe about 5 million people came
from all over the Japan for this evet.
Sacred Pillar was erected in front of Main Hall,and was connected
by strings the Main image ("Maedate-Honzon").
Pelple who touch with this Sacred Pillar is equal to worship
Buddha, "Maedate-Honzon", they say.

	回向柱奉納行列（松代から善光寺へ）	Top of the parade dedicating Sacred Pillar 　to Zenkouji from Matsushiro(Castle town)
	回向柱(3ton)を牽引する聖牛　大画像でどうぞ！ (80k.gif)	Sacred Pillar (3 ton) is driven by sacred ox 　 and a lot of pious people.
	奉納する婦人舞踊	Dedicated Japanese Dance by female of 　 Matsushiro Town.

Erection Ceremony of Sacred Pillar [ Apr. 4 ]

	木やりを先導に古式にのっとり建立開始	Beginig of Erection according to traditional ceremony
	回向柱が無事建立される　（長さ10M・3トン・赤松)	Erection of Sacred Pillar (red pine tree length-10M weight-3ton)
	お立ち会いの大勧進	High priest of Daikanjin (Tendai Sect)
	お立ち会いの大本願	High priestess of Daihongan (Joudo Sect)
