AKIYAMA-GOU waiting for Spring.

美しき冬景色・雪中・温中「秋山郷の旅」 ( Mar.1998 ）

眠りからさめた秋山郷（小赤沢）の朝

In the early morning of Akiyama-gou (Koakazawa).

秋山郷は雪の中だった。

秘境・秋山郷は平家の谷とも言われる。

2000メートル級の山々に囲まれ、小さな集落が点在する山村。

秋山郷は、かって、陸の孤島、自然の中の厳しい生活を強いられてきた。

今日では、厳冬であっても交通は確保され
自然の豊かな恵みの中に近代化されている「桃源郷」である。


        秋山郷は時々お邪魔する機会があります。　思うに、

　　  自然との戦いはそのまま秋山郷の歴史そのものなのかもしれません。
　　  それでもその地を捨てることもなく厳しい自然と向き合って生き抜いて
　　  きた秋山郷の人々の表情には過酷な歴史に培われた逞しさに溢れています。
　　  だから、訪れるたびに私は励まされるような気がします。

Akiyama-Gou is a small village surrounding high mountain-ranges,
situated about 100Km north of Nagano City.
They have 2-3m's snow ,and shut away from other place in Winter ,long ago.
People are usually close to nature , and inherit old good custom.


   I think the history (daily life in Akiyama-gou) actually tells how  
   they sometimes harmonize and sometimes battle with very severe Nature. 

   The people have strong spirit and touphness confronting  Nature,
   throughout a long time  inspite of strict and heavy climate and 
   natural conditions. 

   Therefore, they encourage and teach us a lot of things
   whenever we visit there.
